The Tiny Core Linux 7.2 development process has been lightning fast, with no major changes being implemented in this release. Just last week, on June 24, Tiny Core entered the Release Candidate stage – a clear indication that the distribution is moving full steam ahead. Generally, the developers release two RC builds before the final version, but that wasn’t necessary this time.

This release boasts a few exciting new features, per the release notes. In particular, the ondemand function has seen some significant improvements in the tc-functions script. Additionally, thanks to a new tweak, arguments can be passed and quoted to both ondemand and tc-functions alike. Users will also rejoice in the ability to pass arguments to ondemand items devoid of a .desktop file.

The grim initiative to make ondemand self-initiating has been paused, and the tc-config script has ditched the “clear” command from its repertoire – which is now placed at the tail end of the rcS script. Remarkably, these four changes were already incorporated into corepure64, but were left out of core by an honest mistake, as per the official release announcement.
